Congratulations to all those who swam in the Spring 2001 Junior Olympics in Coral Springs, FL. Metro Aquatic Club of Miami (MACM) placed 4th in the meet, and was the highest scoring team in Dade County.
There were many GREAT swims. Some of the great swims were the 13-14 Male 200 Free relay and Susan Smiddy which made National Age Group Top 16 Reportable time.
Many swimmers qualified to be on the Florida Gold Coast All-Star Team, which is the top 4 in each event. The qualifiers were: Susan Smiddy, Michelle Pava, Alex Fairest, Chelsea Griffith, Rebecca Smiddy, Francisco Lacayo, Javier Fonseca, Carlos Araque, Carolina Manan, Monica Singletary, Jeffrey Vivo, Javier Basnuevo, Matthew Smiddy, and Joey Pedroza. |  |

The Division II Championships are now over. Thank you VERY MUCH parents who helped by timing, or working in the concession stand. We held a very well run meet due to your help. We only had to ask for timers in ONE session, and we never had to hold up the meet to wait for a timer. Thank you to all the Senior group who took care of the first two sessions in timing, and in a couple of other sessions two. The following swimmers made new Junior Olympic cuts: Arlen De Armas, Veronica Juranovic, Camille Campins, Christopher Conde, Kevin Barona, Andrew Smiddy, Christopher Diaz, Joey Pedroza, David Lavernia, Michael Guerra, Angel Ares, Michael Diaz, and Jose Alberte. Congratulation also to Susan Smiddy in breaking the Florida Gold Coast 500 Yard Freestyle record on Friday Night. Congratulations to the numerous people who did best times.
